Ceramic is a way to self-knowledge and self realization
With this course you can achieve deep knowledge and skills immersing in the endless world of ceramic finding your own way to be one and only artist.
The course will be taught in English, Spanish and Japanese 5 days per week.
Our aim is create a new generation of ceramic artists and for each student to find their own style of expression conecting with their source of inspiration.
Students will live a unique, inspirational and creative learning experience.
The course covers whole ceramic processes, moderate (manual and wheel techniques), many decoration techniques, glaze elaboration and standard and special firings. This course is ideal for students motivated to start learning ceramics also those with an intermediate level.
Chisato Kuroki

A Japanese ceramic artist based in Barcelona, has 30 years of experience with ceramics and 20 years of teaching experience. Winner and Finalist of many international competitions and biennals and invited artist at international art festivals or artist in residence in Spain, England, China, France and Japan.
She works from tableware, contemporary ceramic sculptures to large experimental kiln projects.
She is famous for her "Kamigama" kilns, are made with newspaper and fired with charcoal. This amazing and innovative kiln can arrive up to 1200 degrees in 3 hours.
Chisato Kuroki has also extensive experience in experimental ceramics, and in ceramic performances, she constructed a tea house (diameter 3m and heght 2m with 3 tons of clay) built in one piece and fired with wood for International Kiln Festival.
Apart from knowing Japanese techniques, she has also many original techniques thanks to her restless character, she continues to experiment with unusual materials.
Her raku workshop is well known and very popular for its originality.
She is also Kundalini Yoga Instructer. She is mixing yoga and ceramics to find her own center of inspiration.

Studio
The studio is located in very trandy Born area, in city center of Barcelona, surrounded by old streets, very near from famous Gothic church Santa Maria del Mar. The building of the studio was built in the 18th century.
The studio is in the clutural asosiation Espai Ku where some artists share the nice atmosphere space ando also you can find exhibitions, concerts, events specially in weekends.

Course Information
Schedule
Classes and workshops are held from Wednesday to Sunday 10.00 to 14.00 there will be tutorial and from 14.00 to 17.00 self practice. Sometimes we will visit galleries and museums.
Academic Requirements
High school diploma
Courses will be held in English, Spanish and Japanese
How to enroll
cost
The cost is 5000€ included all materials (not included porcelaine clay), glazes, and firings. Each student will be provided with their own personal space for self-practice with access to a wheel, table and shelving space.
Not included: accommodation, meals, airfare, airport transfer, extra materials and particular equipment requested for the personal project.

Applicants should show some ceramic pieces, drawings etc...
Each applicant will be interviewed online by the teacher to find out what the student’s motivations. Selected students will be informed by email.
